Shirley Donaldson - Staff Rep

Hi, my name is Shirley Donaldson. 

I am the staff elected trustee serving on the Board of Trustees.  

A New Zealander by birth (a Masterton girl). Part of my childhood years were spent in Fielding. At the age of 11, my parents took our family on a journey which involved us living in a number of countries before setting down in South Africa. There I met and married my husband John and our sons Anthony and William were born there. I returned to New Zealand in January 1999 and immediately enrolled Willliam at Bruce McLaren Intermediate.

My involvement with the school started as a volunteer in the reading programmes, also with ESOL students and the PTA. I was elected as staff trustee to the Board in 2001 and have continued to serve ever since.

As a board member, I serve on several sub committees – these are Health & Safety, EEO and board representative to the PTA. I feel it is an honour and privilege to serve with staff and fellow board members who feel passionately about children’s rights to a quality public education system. One where students, teachers and families feel safe, respected and supported at all times.

 I look forward to continuing to serve this school community where and whenever there is a need.
