Y8 GIRLS SOFTBALL AUCKLAND CHAMPIONS

The Bruce McLaren Year 8 Girls’ Softball Team has won the Auckland Intermediate Schools Softball Competition.

After winning the Waitakere Zone the girls then went to the Interzone Competition held at Rosedale Park in Albany. They played five games at the Interzone Competition before meeting Kowhai Intermediate in the final. After trailing early on 6-2, they came back scoring five runs to lead 7-6 adding a further 3 runs to win 10-6.

This is the first time in seven years since Bruce McLaren Intermediate has won the Interzone Competition, this is a great effort.

Bruce McLaren also had the Year 7 Boys Team finish 3^rd at the Interzone Competition, while the Year 7 Girls were runners up in the zone competition.

The team was led by Jae Kauwhata and Simone Davis with the rest of the team all playing their part on the day.

The school motto is ’Achievement’. What an achievement for these young ladies.
